Profile

Philip M. Seng oversees U.S. Meat Export Federation operations worldwide, providing direction for USMEF strategies and priorities in international programs, research, technical services, industry relations and global communications.  He also serves as the spokesman for USMEF and other exporting interests to government and private entities regarding international trade and foreign market development issues related to U.S. red meat products.

Currently serving on the President's Agricultural Policy Advisory Council in Washington, D.C., Seng has also been active in a number of industry-related organizations, including being the only American ever to serve as President of the International Meat Secretariat.  In 2009, Seng was one of 21 charter members inducted into the Meat Industry Hall of Fame.

Seng, has been president and CEO since 1990, and joined USMEF in 1982 as the Asia Pacific Director.  His marketing strategies and approach in Asian markets have received critical acclaim within the international business community and USMEF’s tactics served as a case study in the Harvard University Business School.  He has been a guest speaker to organizations on six continents.

USMEF promotes beef and pork exports through a variety of programs, including developing product promotions for foreign supermarket and foodservice companies and training programs for salespeople, and conducting seminars to better inform physicians and nutritionists about the nutritional benefits of red meat and to inform chefs and distributors about the unique attributes of U.S. beef and pork.
